USA Basketball Foundation Receives a $5M Donation from Tull Family Foundation

The gift is the largest since the USA Basketball Foundation launched in 2019, surpassing TFF’s $3.5 million contribution in 2022.

The USA Basketball Foundation (USABF) announced today that it has received a $5 million donation from the Tull Family Foundation (TFF). The gift is the largest since the USA Basketball Foundation launched in 2019, surpassing TFF’s $3.5 million contribution in 2022.

“We are thankful for the Tull Family Foundation’s continued support of the USA Basketball Foundation’s programming and helping grow the game beyond the court,” USA Basketball chairman and retired Gen. Martin E. Dempsey said. “We are grateful for this second gift that will help ensure the USA Basketball Foundation can use the power of basketball to strengthen our communities. Our relationship with the Tull family has allowed us to champion women, empower youth and promote social responsibility, and we look forward to all the positive outcomes from this partnership.”

The donation further underscores TFF’s commitment to empower change and transform lives in underfunded communities.

“USA Basketball represents more than excellence on the court; it stands for character, opportunity, and the lifelong values the game instills,” said Thomas Tull, co-founder of the Tull Family Foundation. “Basketball has the power to change lives, and the USA Basketball Foundation is ensuring that opportunity reaches every corner of our country. My wife Alba and I are proud to deepen our commitment to a mission that is not only inspiring the next generation of athletes but also investing in future leaders and stronger communities across America.”

Through TFF’s generous giving, the USABF will be able to support its mission to expand access to the benefits of basketball for all communities. USABF efforts will focus on hosting camps, clinics and off-court programming at RIZE Sports and throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.

“The USA Basketball Foundation is so grateful to keep building on our mission with Thomas and Alba Tull,” said USA Basketball Foundation chief development officer Jennifer Lynne Williams. “The Tull Family Foundation’s generosity will continue to enhance and expand USA Basketball Foundation programming, while positively impacting and encouraging participants to go for gold on the court, but most importantly in life!”

Since TFF’s original gift in 2022, the partnership with USABF has been a driving force behind expanding access to the game and reaching thousands of youth, women and individuals from underserved communities. The organizations helped create safe places to play, opened doors to professional development and made high-quality coaching accessible to teens and kids. Together the two sides will shape future generations of basketball leaders on and off the court.
