TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES THROUGH BASKETBALL

The USA Basketball Foundation is a nonprofit organization that harnesses the power, influence and global reach of USA Basketball to grow the game beyond the court. We expand access to USA Basketball programs so leaders can be mentored in every community, and equity is not just an aspiration—it’s the standard rules of the game.

Empowering Youth

Every kid deserves a shot, regardless of their location or economic background. USABF works with local community leaders to get kids off screens and onto the court with basketball camps, clinics, and community takeovers designed to teach resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship through the game.

USABF Community Takeovers

“Events like these give students access to role models who reflect their dreams and experiences. They also provide a safe space to explore new skills, build relationships, and learn the value of hard work. Whether a child wants to be an athlete, artist, scientist, or teacher, the lessons learned during these takeovers build confidence, collaboration, and commitment.”

– Tiffany C. James, Principal at Dr. Frederica S. Wilson/Skyway Elementary School, Miami Gardens, FL

Women in the Game Conference Scholarships

“The Women in the Game conference gave me confidence and a sense of belonging in spaces where I often felt out of place. Hearing trailblazers like Sylvia Crawley Spann share that confidence is a skill—one that can be learned and practiced—helped me reframe my mindset.”

– Machia Mullens, 2025 WITG Scholarship Recipient

Community Court Refurbishment

“The court was recently used for our Community Day in partnership with Hillside Connection, where youth played basketball with local college players, and about 500 people attended the event. The new surface has added a splash of color to the park that our residents love. Investing in the community makes residents feel valued and appreciated.”

– Josh Gainey, Park Operations Administrator at Hillside Community Center, Colorado Springs, CO
